About Us

There is an increasing trend that youths today are more inward looking, seeking immediate self-gratification in most aspects of life, and influenced by social values ingrained in popular culture. Youths, more than any other groups in society, are at a particularly vulnerable state of life. It is at this stage, where they begin to break away from total dependence from parents and gain access over rights which they may not yet have the maturity to deal with. Youth – is a transition phase in life, when they will define who they will become in as an adult.

CampusImpact recognize the need for our youths to participate meaningfully in community service to nurture social and civic responsibilities by way of experimental learning through service to the community. We aim to combine service objectives with the learning objectives so that these activities can benefit both the recipients and our youths.

CAMPUSIMPACT MISSION

Our desire is to develop Youths equipped with the 3 ‘P’s:

a. Positive Attitude

b. Purposeful Life

c. Pioneering Spirit

CampusImpact will provide the foundation for youths as they transit from childhood to adulthood, so that they will become useful citizens to the community, serving as pillars of strength for the nation.

CAMPUSIMPACT STRATEGY

CampusImpact Strategies are as follow:

a. Our focus will be to build the inner core of an individual’s Values, Motives, and Traits which are the leverage to develop the whole being of a youth.

b. We will partner like-minded individuals and organisations in order to synergise resources towards a common goal.

c. We will garner the ready resources available in our young adults, equipping them to serve the youths as role models.

CAMPUSIMPACT PHILOSOPHY

At the individual level, CampusImpact programs aims to support the personal and group development of young people and equip them with the skills they need to become agents for positive social change – to lead their peers in improving their lives and communities.

Our Mission is accomplished through employing basic but powerful principles:

a. Safe Space

We provide an environment where young people feel safe physically, mentally and spiritually. In a Safe Space, young people feel free to discuss issues of importance to them.

b. Youth-to-Youth Communication

With adults as a resource, young people teach other young people and learn from each other.

c. Multicultural Bridge Building

We are committed to creating a space for young people from different backgrounds to gather and enage in honest dialogue, where boundaries can be dismantled and the door to understanding opened.

d. Leadership Development

We believe all young people have the potential to be leaders.

CAMPUSIMPACT’S APPROACH TO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

Youth Development is a process which prepares young people to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood through a co-ordinated, progressive series of activities and experiences which help them to become socially, morally, emotionally, physically and cognitively competent. Positive youth development addresses the broader developmental needs of youth, in contrast to deficit-based models which focus solely on youth problems.

OUR MODEL

There are Underlying Characteristics indicating both the enduring and general behaviour. There are 5 types of competencies which have varying levels of visibility to outsiders. Knowledge and skill competencies tend to be visible and more surface characteristics of people, while self-concept, trait and motive competencies are more hidden and deeper. Whilst surface knowledge and skills are easier to assess and develop, core motive and their competencies are the most difficult, with self-concept competencies somewhere in between. They are illustrated in the figure below [1]:

Characteristic

What it means

Motive

Things that the person thinks about or wants that cause

action.

Traits

Physical characteristics and consistent responses to

situation or information.

Self-concept

A person’s attitudes, values or self-image.

Knowledge

Information a person has in specific content areas.

Skill

The ability to perform a certain physical or mental task.

CAMPUSIMPACT PROGRAMS

CampusImpact aims to develop and operate innovative programs that would engage young people, support their development as individuals and citizens, and partner with them to create change in their own lives, their communities and the world. In our CampusImpact Centre (Yishun), we hope to bring together young people from different cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds; challenge them to address difficult issues that affect youth; and partner with them to produce solutions filled with their energy and creativity.

CampusImpact vehicles for communicating these issues include leadership training workshops and courses, original live musical training, community improvement projects, community-based workshops, leadership conferences and youth-directed and facilitated dialogue sessions. All CampusImpact programs will be youth-driven – created for youth by youth – to ensure they reflect the real needs, ideas, and visions of youth. CampusImpact also recognizes the need for our youths to participate actively and meaningfully in community service and to nurture social and civic responsibilities by way of meaningful and experimental learning through service to the community. We aim to combine the service objectives with the learning objectives so that these activities can benefit both the beneficiaries and our youths.
